After a long winter, our island is calling for a little reset. The time has come for our annual Island Clean Up Day, one of our favorite traditions! We gather with neighbors and friends, and use good old fashioned man power and team work to sweep the island - breaking into sections and picking up any trash we come upon.
This casual gathering kicks off by meeting at the Southport School to get organized with your route, pick up supplies, and fuel up with a delicious grilled hot dog lunch before you head off. Following that - you work at your leisure as little or as long as you need to cover your ground and restore Southport to its pristine condition.
When you're done, just leave your bag in a conspicuous location at the beginning or end of your route and a volunteer crew will go around to collect them.
Wearing comfortable water resistant shoes and work gloves is recommended for your comfort and safety.
